1. Deviance as a social function of society
2. Resocialization and deviant behavior - what is the relationship?

Stigma - Due Monday
A stigma is placed on an individual as a mark of social disgrace meant to separate the individual from the rest of society. Based on our conversation in class about stigmas and the relationship between primary deviance and secondary deviance complete the task below.
1. Find a current event article (within the past 5 years) relating to a person doing a deviant act - concerning primary or secondary deviance.
2. Answer the following question: Are stigmas good or bad for society regardless of the nature of the deviant act?
Format: 2 paragraph summary. 1st Paragraph is a summary of your article/stigma. 2nd Paragraph answers the question above. You are not allowed to sit on the fence...it hurts.
Note: If you don't remember what primary or secondary deviance is refer to the notes above.
